Without vision people don’t find their passion and for me my great passion is being creative. Through my photography and modelling I seek to document my own personal experience, convey the message that glances individuals, capture the beauty of the world diversity and share this with people.

I grew up in Thaba Nchu, a small town a few miles from Bloemfontein in the Free State. I became fascinated by art at an early age, but unlike any other artist who followed the path of studying “Visual arts” after they matriculate, I went to study N. Dip Building at Central University of Technology (Bloemfontein). It may come as a surprise to some that after I adapted my Diploma qualification I began my career in visual art.

I have been creating a collection named “Thaba Nchu Real Black Stories” since 2020, which gyrate around historical, psychological and sociological anxiety, the lifestyle of Africans especially those from small places such as villages, trusts and farms. As an African proverb quote “the sun does not forget a village just because it is small”, so do I. During my childhood, being from the villages was a joke and our peers would mock us with words that portrayed that we are “less smart or wise” because we are from small places thus have less information about almost everything. This did not end in my childhood days, but also extended to my days at Central University of Technology. Most individuals from my town claimed that they are Bloemfontein breeds. This did hurt me, hence I want to accommodate the “abandoned”. I believe these are some of the reasons I enjoy using myself as a subject.

A fine photograph with a relatable message, which I achieve by a technique called dodge and burn which was elevated by Ansel Adams.
